These amazing little birds can be a real challenge to a photographer. They can fly from flower to flower at up to 50 miles per hour or hover in one spot.

The Ruby-throated hummingbird weighs in at a mere 1/8 of an ounce (3 grams). And is about 3.5 inches in length. Their wings beat 40-80 times per second.
